AbstractThe book “Healing the Wounds of Sexual Addiction”, is a book that informs those who do not have knowledge of sexual addiction and those who have experienced sexual addiction. This book also encourages and gives hope to those in recovery, seeking recovery, or suffers from a sexual addiction. This book goes into detail of Mr. Lasser’s personal struggle with sexual addiction as well as connecting the recovery process with biblical text. “Healing the Wounds of Sexual Addiction” covers issues and inquiries that people may have about sexual addiction. This book is very informative and is a helpful tool to someone who suffers or family and friends of the addict. This critical review will breakdown each section of the book. I will be critiquing each part: Part 1 – What is Sexual Addiction, Part 2 – The Roots of Sexual Addiction, Part 3 – Healing The Wounds of Sexual Addiction, and Part 4 – Healing the Wounds of the Church.
Critical Book ReviewBeing assigned this book to read as class material is a recommendation I would make for everyone majoring in any field that involves working with people. That would be the majority of all jobs. This book gave me a new perspective on sexual addictions and the recovery process. It enlightened me on how impactful this issue is worldwide. This issue not only effects communities, but also the churches where people are known to come for healing. These situations in the church are growing rapidly due to society assuming that people in the church do not suffer or struggle with addictions. The personal experience that Mr. Lasser brings when describing the healing process and effects in detail are very touching. He has written this book write this book with the assistance of personal experiences. He gives you insight on how to get the proper healing and treatment as well as the Biblical standpoint of the matter at hand.
